Very attractive backstreet pub that's had the Ripper visit inside and has gone for ‘scruffy chic’ AKA pulling stuff off the walls and not making good, along with a gloop of mushroom paint. One cask, a hazy and dusty Dark Star Hophead (NBSS 1.5). At least it was on the way to somewhere else and not a wasted walk.

A traditional unspoiled back street local in a Victorian terrace. Knocked through to form a single downstairs bar, it is atmospheric and welcoming. We found the staff welcoming and the locals tolerant. There was a piano in one corner though the only music on, emanating from a discrete hi fi, was pleasant and unobtrusive. There was a menu of dog treats but we weren’t sure what was on offer to humans. Ales on were Dark Star Hophead and two incongruous craft beers from Brewdog, Black Heart and Wingman. Abetter-than-average keg selection of Grolsch, Neck Oil, Asahi and Cornish Orchard cider was also on offer. I’m really pleased we found this pub and shall be happy to come back.
