Steve C left this review about British Queen

The British Queen is a fairly small rectangular shaped Shepherd Neame pub. The walls and pillars are made of exposed brick and a panelled bar runs along the back wall. One of the hand pumps was unused and the other two were both drawing Master Brew. The usual Shepherd Neame draught is available (Orangeboom etc.) and I had a decent pint of Guinness. There were two locals sitting at the bar on the recent Thursday afternoon I visited and the large plasma screen was showing an old western with sound. I didn’t see any signs for Sky Sports, but there is a jukebox on the wall that was switched off. To the right of the bar is a flight of stairs that lead up to an advertised pool room, but I didn’t investigate further. To the left of the pub is some covered outside seating.

I didn’t see any food advertised, but there were signs for a new quiz that begins at 20:00 every Tuesday.

I thought that the service was polite, but the governor kept groaning and cursing under his breath. I found this to be very strange behaviour, but I left the pub thinking that he may just be having a really bad day, which we’ve all had.

My trips to Maidstone involve Maidstone East Railway Station so unfortunately this pub is a little bit too far for me to consider revisiting any time soon.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about British Queen

Was the office pub of choice when I worked in south Maidstone (a bit surprising since the Pilot was closer), but still a reliable backstreet pub selling reasonably priced food. Used to have several Shepherd Neame beers on draught, but only Master Brew on my last visit.
