A traditional looking stand alone pub that is off the town centre and up an hill.
Once inside there is a single room with the bar facing, the room is bare boarded, the seating normal tables and chairs to the front and tall tables and chairs on the left side, there is a darts board to the rear right, the TV above the entrance was showing football.
There were three real ales on,i had a drink of Fullers Red Fox which was a decent drink, the other beers were Hobgoblin and GK IPA.
I thought this was a decent pub to have a drink in.

This traditional, no nonsense local's boozer was built in 1867 and is a short uphill walk from the town centre. It does look a bit rough and frayed around the edges but generally offers a friendly enough welcome if you don't mind a healthy dose of coarse language.

The single room interior is a bit dated with a central bar and can be a bit cramped down the sides. The front section is quite badly laid out with seating often sacrificed to accommodate either a pool table, big screen, darts ocheor “stage” area for live music/karaoke. There are a few original pub features, notably some of its personalised patterned windows. The tiled counter of the bar surface of the bar itself is also quite unusual. They have recently opened an upstairs function room.

Life here tends to centre on the televised football and if Millwall are being shown, expect a rousing chorus of colourful songs from the “loyal” fans who obviously prefer the pub comforts to filling an empty bucket seat at the ground itself. Various football pennants hang on the walls and despite all the Millwall leanings, fans of all persuasions shouldn't experience any hassle albeit they wll more than likely be on the receiving end of some earthy banter if their cover is blown.

This isn't the sort of pub that would expect to find any Ales but there are 3 hand pumps that usually have a couple of standards along the lines of London Pride and Greene King IPA and a usually a decent enough guest beer. Availability and quality can be hit or miss but prices are reasonable.

The pub is handy for Mick Jagger Centre a few hundred yards away and, whilst not many people will count it among their favourites, it does at least feel like a real local's pub that has probably not changed much for decades.
