Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Cricketers
Attractive Shepherd Neame corner pub, usually full of tourists but strangely quiet on a post-coronavirus lockdown visit. Refurbished inside in a semi-traditional style, with the main part of the bar at the front and a slightly larger seating / dining area at the back. Mix of furniture and menu based on the expected English dishes. Just three handpumps, which is always a bit of a surprise here, and only Master Brew and Whitstable Bay Pale (£4.50) available this time.

A fairly non-descript town pub with a slightly modernised feel and vague hints of café or wine bar. At the back is a small and rather scruffy outdoor area. Shepherd Neame beers with reversed clips for Spitfire and Whitstable Bay and the remaining Masterbrew having seen better days. A little disappointing.

Shepherd and Neame high street pub. It consists of two ground floor bars, floorboarded, with part of the original 17th Century structure apparent, although the front appears to have been rebuilt. There is also a courtyard where food and drinks are served. Gaming machines, an overloud jukebox and ageing dried hops around the bar make it feel tacky. The landlady was friendly enough, but the young bar staff were inefficient. The clientele were best described as obese and moronic, which made a refreshing change from the irritating tourists (maybe I'm just getting less tolerant), although there were one or two normal people among the regular cadre. There were 2 S&N and one guest ale on; the guest was Tribute. I went for the Spitfire, which was fresh and in perfect condition. Worth coming back to for the beer quality and architectural interest.
