Roadside pub on what looks like an old through road whose traffic has – at a guess - since been munched-up by the A34 behind. A lot of money been spent here, (still smelt of ‘new’) and the recent refurb is quite well done. Staple-shaped bar, carpeted with bare brick bar that also has floor-to-ceiling wood beams. The large bay window is a great spot to sit, replete with a selection of papers. Quite light shades of décor, with some duck egg wood panelling. There’s a dining area off to the left, which looked gastro. Nice little garden area out the front. Six Nations rugby being shown on the TV. Three ales; Pride, Doom Bar and a good drop of West Berks Mr Chubbs. Lacks a little something but fairly decent nonetheless. 6.5
