Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Wheatsheaf

Attractive-looking old inn (still offering accommodation) in the centre of town by the minster, and with a few small tables out in the square. The opened-out interior has been refurbished in an attractive semi-traditional style with a mix of furniture in the various rooms (and decor including hops and tankards around the counter). Real ales were Doom Bar, Upham Punter and the local Goddard's Fuggle-Dee-Dum (£3.90).

Soup Dragon left this review about Wheatsheaf Inn

An end terraced hotel, restaurant and pub in the Market Square, in brick and white rendering, with red paintwork, with a patio area in the Square

The interior, as I saw, had three rooms; a bar, dining room and a side room, where we sat. The bar and dining room was in white, brick, wood panel, with a part stone floor – with a brick bar and a piano. The side room was much more fun – in white and wood panel, with a black and white fireplace, there was a lots of old metal signs for the hotel and advertising other things and what appeared to be either a part of the earlier white and timber building, or a mock feature. The service was good, there was no music and the place was busy, with a good mix – clearly many were locals. There was no music.

Beer; tap stuff, with GK IPA, Flowers Original and a decent Goddard’s Fuggle-dee-dum.

This was a decent place for the missus to have a pot of tea and for me to enjoy a beer. Whilst I didn’t eat, it seemed to juggle everything, pub, food and accommodation well, as it was popular.
