A thorough description below from BF as usual who has been the pioneer PuG-er in these environs prior to me. Much the same as his near-8-year ago visit, this has a small bar to the left of the glass-fronted entrance door, which proffered Belhaven Bitter and something called "Wellington Brew" which I learnt was a best bitter brewed by local brewery Farr Brew. A traditional, chestnutty bitter, it was a nice drink and £4 for the privilege. This place is clearly geared up to dining and also offers accommodation, but there's no truck with solo imbibation and the badge-engineered Farr Brew bitter was a great find.

Refurbished this year after a fire,this is a gastro pub with rooms available.The frontage is a mixture of Georgian windows and floor to ceiling glass,giving the interior a lot of light and makes dining a spectator sport for passing shoppers.To the left is a smart bar area with an L shaped sofa and assorted rustic tables and chairs probably best suited to a drink before dining rather than an extended session,which would be curtailed by the ale choice of GK Abbott and Old Speckled Hen.To the right of the entrance is the main dining area split in half by a central fireplace,adding character to the bare boarded floor and wooden clad walls.There is also an old brick lined fireplace not in commission.The food is very well cooked,starters around £7 ,mains generally north of £12 but it does feel value for money.In the modern style,the kitchen is visible from the dining area,and the waiting staff are well turned out in casual black attire.A good choice for a foodie experience in a contemporary setting.Anyway the wife enjoyed it....
