Requested be closed with reason - For sale: McMullens suddenly closed the pub on 10/10/14 and announced the sale of the freehold to Regenta Developments.Very uncertain future as a pub.

Alan Winfield left this review about John Gilpin

The John Gilpin is fairly close to the train station but it is south of the town centre.
This is a fairly large pub that looked quite smart from the outside, once inside the pub was also smart and comfortable, this pub is a McMullens tied house and there were two real ales on here i had a drink of McMullens Country bitter and this was a very nice drink the other beer was AK.
I thought this was a decent enough pub to have a few drinks in.
