The Albion is a pleasant looking pub a short walk from Ware High Street. It dates from the 17th century and internally is one L shaped space around the serving bar area as well described by Mr Fastard with the beams said to be original and allegedly one of the exposed timbers was taken from the Albion sailing ship, hence the pub name.
The 1800’s local archive records give 10 names for licence premises in Crib Street, probably due to there being a malting in the street and apparently The Albion had a skittle alley in 1867, although not sure where, and at the time it was supplied by Phillips, the brewers of Royston. Later it was Flowers before the Whitbread take over and on our visit Adnams Bitter, London Pride and GK London Glory (the reversed pump) sats alongside the Flowers IPA
For old time sake we plumped for the Flowers, but in hindsight not the right decision because, no fault of the pub, but Flowers is not the pint it was back in the day.
There’s not much in The Albion to get the pulse racing, but it does make a welcome change from the noisier high street pubs and the peaceful surroundings of Crib Street is certainly a good place to divert for a relaxing quiet pint away from the main traffic of the town centre.

A single roomed lounge bar in an attractive old building, with an upholstered bench seating around the wall on one side,a fireplace,a few small tables and some very heavy cast iron bar stools.Five handpumps with Adnams Southwold Bitter doubled up ,London Pride, Flowers IPA and one pump reversed. My pint had a faintly woody tang, but that aside this is a traditional place and tucked away from the more lively young persons bars in town.

The Albion is a decent looking black and white pub that is in the town centre and close to the church.
This is a smallish pub and once inside it had a cosy feel to it with beams on the ceiling and comfortable seating.
There were three real ales on here i had a drink of Adnams bitter and this was very nice the other beers were London Pride and Whitbread Flowers bitter.
I thought this was a very nice pub and well worth a visit.
