A two-roomed roadside pub just off Junction 18 of the M25 which still retains the stained-glass inserts indicating lounge and saloon bars, this has had some modernisation over the years but still has a patina of character with some original-looking beams. The bar is located in the larger of the two rooms (the saloon) next to a central fireplace and had a solitary ale - GK IPA - which I was informed was 'about to go off' (GK Abbot, Ruddles County and H&H Rocking Rudolph were reversed and two further pumps were unclipped). A half of Camden Hells lager and packet of 'Real' crisps came in at £3.50. There are some nice touches here, but all-in-all it was a little amateurish, which is a shame as there are some of the basics here for a decent roadside stop-off.

Very traditional smart looking pub. Shame the service and hospitality doesn't reach up to the same standard. Food ok.

Wonderful 18th Century building, well kept and attractive pub both inside and out. Low beamed ceilings, lots of old wood and glass, wood burning fires and , for attention to detail, photos of the pub on placemats and menus. Games and newspapers available including CAMRA publications. Nice paved part-covered garden area to the rear with impressive flower displays. Small bar to the right of the entrance where there's a small TV. The main bar is to the left and is carpeted throughout with a dining area. Food served 12 until 2:30 and evenings from 6pm, Sundays 12 until 4pm. Cask Marque accredition, Greene King ales and I had a decent pint of the 2.8% Tolly English Ale. Recommended for a quiet pint in pleasant surroundings. On the 336 bus route.
