This looks like an old coaching inn. Inside it's a large somewhat rambling open plan room with a step down roughly half way along. It has wooden floors and some exposed brick. In the lower area is a massive open fireplace.
There are three hand pumps which had London Pride, Tring Enigma and Gales (Fullers) Spring Sprinter. I went for the Enigma but didn't note the price. I assume it was expensive but it was in good nick.
This is a pleasant enough place but the beer choice isn't up to much.

A lot of money has been spent on the interior ,and the bar has two very distinct parts with the drinking area by the front side door the best part. It's all wood panelled with a high ceiling and exposed timbers and a sturdy brick chimney breast with a double sided real fire giving a very warm welcome on a chilly night. The furniture is a mix of sofas and comfy chairs, one wall has coloured plasterwork between the timbers and the high bar is in solid wood, with some good carving.Up a step is the rest of the bar,an area with a high table and a long bench seating ,while beyond is the restaurant and open kitchen with subtle recessed lighting in the ceiling design,it's a wait to be seated arrangement.
The place is smart ,with a trendy soundtrack playing and it seemed popular with a young professional crowd including groups of women. The drinking area looks baronial but the feel of the place is that of a hotel bar, which indeed it is as there are room to let upstairs.
There were three handpumps drawing Thwaites Lancaster Bomber,Tring Sidepocket and Ringwood Boondoggle which was decent but I was shocked at the £3.85 price tag .However maybe not surprising given the hotel/restaurant connection.
Worth a brief look in ,but miles more expensive than the 'spoons next door with both buildings dating back to Berko's history as a coaching stage post.

Part of a hotel apparently but the lively bar doesn't seem so.Four handpumps with some standard beers. Nice place not one to recommend but I wouldn't want to totally put you off.
