Steve of N21 left this review about The Boot

Largish double bay fronted Mock Tudor pub at the very southern end of Baldock High Street very handy for combining with a visit to the Tesco superstore opposite.
Looked like separate public and lounge bars at one time but now an open plan one bar pub with a separate area housing a pool table. Gaming machines and plenty of screens for the advertised BT and Sky Sport dotted about the main bar area. Looked like it functions as a decent local community pub if the info on the pub football team and advertised music nights with local bands us anything to go by.
But unfortunately the sole functioning GK IPA hand pump meant this was another one of Greedy Kings throttle hold on Baldock that I didn’t loiter in and I decided to pass and head further up the high street.

Fair sized pub that was being re-decorated by the friendly landlord who is also sorting out the kitchen ready to serve food.Like 90% of the pubs this is a Greene King house and although Baldock is a very nice town the chances of getting a beer other than Greene King is very slim.Perhaps someone should open up a decent free house in the town as it looks like McMullen has abandoned the place.
