A good sized tiled corner pub, positioned in a residential area. The exterior does have the wow factor along with the pub and brewery signage. The bar area was in a prominent position and I noticed some patterned tiles running below the counter top. Seventies style wallpaper over near the upright piano added some more interest.
Five handpumps with two in use plus two beers on stillage, behind the bar. The line up was Tribute, Landlord, Flowerpots Perridge pale, Triple fff Dazed and Confused. Friendly barman and the prices were reasonable at £4.30 a pint.

Has had a bit of a spruce-up and definitely lost the bar billiards table a few years ago. The bar front is now yellow but the tiles and frosted windows remain. Five pumps with four on; 2x from the local Queen micro, GK OSH and a past-its-best Oakham Citra (NBSS 2). Chatty barman and a small astroturf courtyard. Lost a bit of lustre for me, I’d be less inclined to make the walk next time. GBG'22 listed.

A good yomp away from the town centre lies this lovely local. The attractive green tiled exterior has been preserved and is monikered with the long-defunct ‘Winchester Brewery Co Ltd’. This is now a Greene King house but the tie seems gratifyingly loose. Five pumps with four ales on; Black Sheep, Itchin Valley Godfathers, Flowerpots Gooden and a GK beer (who knows, who cares!) alongside a ‘proper’ cider from Westons. The interior is V shaped (knocked-through?), with some half wall wood cladding and modern (too modern?) light wood furnishings with a sofa or two to be had. I also spotted an upright piano though not the bar billiards table mentioned elsewhere (apparently it is located in the smoking room - should have looked harder?!). I like it here and is worth the stroll on a pleasant day. I’d happily drink here if I lived locally and if I can find the bar billiards table next time I'll shove the rating up by a point...

Charming local, a bit out of the way but well worth the walk. A Greene King house, but had a guest on (St Austell Tribute) which was served fairly well. Locals were friendly, and a bar billiards table is to be found – unusual in a tied house these days. The same can also be said of the outside gents. Comedy entertainment was provided by the three massive St Bernards, who were roaming round the bar, pushing the 16 year old-looking camp barman off-balance on a regular basis. All in all, pretty good. Rated 8

A fine-looking corner pub, opened-out at some stage to form a single irregular L-shaped bar (albeit still with distinct seating areas within the overall arrangement). Smart, semi-traditional furniture and relatively plain decoration in all parts, but this does draw the eye towards the central counter. As a Greene King house, it was odd (but a pleasant surprise) to find Oakham Citra, Old Speckled Hen and a pair from the Queen Inn on the other side of the city - A Long Way from Pillowcases (£4.40) and Queen of Sheba - from four of the five handpumps, plus that brewery's The Boy Who Barked Twice from a three-cask stillage.
