A Fuller's [ex Gale's] pub. Reasonable sized car park at front, free on street parking also available, but may be in short supply at times. There is also a large free public car park nearby at rear of pub

Saturday mid afternoon visit

On entering from front car park the one large bar is flattened U shaped, fairly standard pub style, chairs, tables, fruit machines, pool table, TV. Nothing outstanding or detrimental. The place is fairly light and airy due to windows on 3 sides + high ceilings

Four hand pulls, all Fuller's offerings, so 2 HSB & 2 London Pride, one only has to go along to Spotted Cow at Cowplain to see the Woodman could do better here [4 different Fuller's on offer at Spotted Cow]

Does food, but the kitchen was closed for refurb, until about mid October

Only four customers, 3 who were busy F'ing & blinding, so I suggest you do not take your mum, family or the Vicar here without popping your head in first

Large outside garden, with swings etc for the kiddies, see above sentence, would you like to take your kiddies here?

To be honest I was surprised just how quite this pub was, once upon a time this pub was a magnet for families, perhaps closed kitchen & change of landlord is behind it

Would I go back? Not really, but I may well do so once kitchen reopens, just to see if my experience was a blip

Only 4 stars, once upon a time it would have been 8
