Previously the India Arms and the IBar, it's mainly an Italian restaurant, closed Tuesday and Sunday evenings. Only one way in now, into what was the public bar, which now serves as a reception and pre-dinner drinks area for the restaurant and has a couple of tables and some comfy chairs. Behind this is a small lounge with large leather sofas, and (oddly) a dartboard, while the restaurant occupies the large room on the left hand side of the pub. Background music was light jazz and 1950s pop, and there was WiFI available. Staff were helpful and friendly. Two hand pumps on the bar, but only one ale on, Sussex American Pale Ale, which was rather good, well kept and tasty, although over-priced by quite a way. Not a pub I'd include in a crawl, and overshadowed by the Hole next door, but OK to drop in for a quiet pint.

India Arms now morphed into "I bar & grill"
The I is for Italian
Went in Saturday lunchtime, open bar area with large separate dining area plus a pool table and dart board areas
Sub tropical walled garden, would be very pleasant to sit in with pasta, friends & wine I reckon
Spotless & smart toilets
It seems to be both pub / bar and a grill but emphasis I think is on the food side of things, probably just as well as there are fierce pub competitors very nearby
They sell two draught bitters, well only one when I went in, London Pride & HSB, the HSB was not available, as they have only just re-opened they are waiting for trade to pick up before HSB on as the cask will go "off" before all sold. L Pride is £3.20, HSB £3.30. Stella £3.40
Also sells wines etc as one would expect in this type of establishment. Litre carafe of "house" £12.50
Food was not tried, but varied menu from around £3 to £13, includes steaks, pizza, burgers and of course pasta
The people I met were very friendly and helpful
I will not rate this just yet as it would be unfair having just opened, but I will return and perhaps eat there before I rate it, but if first impressions are anything it should do well

I was staying in the area for New Year 2006.
The pub is closed at the moment for refurbishment,not sure when it is due to reopen.
The pub next door The Hole in the Wall is a gem of a pub,but it not in Pubs galore list for some reason
