Thuck Phat left this review about The Chilworth Arms

A large traditional redbrick roadhouse which has a large garden and has been refurbished inside. The interior is split into two areas, a boozing area with random tables and a number of large squishy sofas, all stripped wood and modern lighting, and a restaurant area with an open fire, pine tables and, again, pine floors.
Beer is limited to two handpumps with Bombardier and Brakespear's Oxford Gold on. I went for the latter which wwas fine and there is also a fair selection of bottled beers and wines. The food good quality boozer standard with a couple of specials only and the standard pizzas, pasta, starters and meat and fish mains but all well cooked and presented - this is a cut above Brake Brothers and not badly priced for this part of the world.
A venue to take the family to for supper rather than a gentlemanly session with the added bonus of attractive and friendly waitresses.

UPDATE August 2011

A return visit, or number of visits over a week, found little change. The Clump is still very food focused but the standard is extremely high with a menu featuring pub staples such as pizzas, pastas, meats and fish. The specials menu though has some more interesting dishes and changes daily with 2 or 3 starters and 2 or 3 mains all of which were fresh and well cooked that I tried. It isn't cheap but it's not outrageous either for this area and if you dive in for lunch or before 7 in the evening they offer two courses for £12.95. This all makes it extremely popular and every time we've visited it's been busy with diners especially but also a few drinkers in the bar.
Service remains friendly, occasionally pretty and professional.
There are 3 handpumps which had on Sharps Doom Bar, which was well kept, Brains Bitter and Thatchers Cider. The beers though do change regularly but tend to be from the large nationals and I've yet to see a more interesting micro beer here.
A safe bet for a decent pint if passing but you're unlikely to be disappointed by the food.

Tim Morten left this review about The Clump Inn

With no real competion in this up-market area of Southampton the Clump is predictably expensive and snooty. Good big beer garden, with regularly live music. Food is o.k. but overpriced.
