A double-fronted seaside hotel with a bar on the ground floor. Half the ground floor is the bar, the other half an antiques business which matches well the rest of the establishment. It has a pleasant atmosphere and there is a warm welcome from the young bar staff. There is a lot of nautical bric-a-brac around the walls, and it does feel quite traditional, even though, as has been mentioned below, it was rebuilt after the War. The bar counter is in the rear left corner, but it’s table service only unless you manage to grab the solitary bar stool. Ales on were from Irving – Frigate, Type 42 and Iron Duke, surprisingly cheap and in good condition and served with complimentary rice crackers. Also on were Guinness, Moretti, Amstel, Inch’s Cider and Maltsmith IPA on keg. Opening times are restricted, so check before you come here, but it’s worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Expensive and not as old as it claims - part of the pub was reconstructed after the Second World War. Pleasant enough with some real ales. Accomodation available but a little tired, with tv's that don't work and showers that are temprimental

Bit of old fashioned shabby chic elegance coupled with very modern prices and some pretty good cuisine.
Quaint accomodation and bizarrely uneven floors - worth a stopover just for the fun of walking uphill and downdale all in the same room.
