Blackthorn _ left this review about The Woburn Hotel

Located on a large corner plot right in the heart of Woburn, this is, as it’s name suggests, more of a hotel than a pub and whilst there is a bar that is open to the public it does have something of a hotel bar feel to it rather than your traditional pub.

It consists of one large, single room which is largely contemporary in décor, although it does still have a few original touches such as black painted woodwork and a low beamed ceiling in one half. There is also a massive stone fire-place at one end with a pair of antlers mounted up above it, although much of this has been plastered over and it has been turned in to a seating area. The seating is mostly armchairs in shades of grey or purple and there were a few artistic pictures on the wall, but otherwise little of any note.

Food is concentrated in the restaurant as might be expected, and prices here looked to be in the £15+ price bracket. There is a small bar menu, although this was mostly more snack based with options including sandwiches, ciabattas, croque monsieur and various sharing platters. The only things that might be considered proper meals were a venison burger or fish & chips, both priced between £8 - £9. I went for the latter option, and this was a decent enough dish, although the batter was a bit greasy and quite soggy on the bottom.

Beers on tap were Bombardier and Eagle IPA whilst the solitary cider was Stowford Press which makes a pleasant change from the usual dross around these arts. Overall I suppose this is a decent enough watering hole if you’re staying in the hotel and can’t be bothered to go out, but I can see little reason why anyone would make a point of coming in here when there are much better options just a short walk away.
