Well described below, I’d just add that there is also a dartboard in the public bar area. The staff were cheerful, and the locals largely excepting of our presence. Ales on were Doombar, Landlord and HSB, all in reasonably good condition. A decent enough place to drop in for a pint or two if passing, but not spectacular.

Although having clearly been brought up to date, the interior of this family run former coaching Inn situated on the High Street in Fordingbridge still oozes period character. The main bar area is one low beamed ceiling space which is dominated by a large central brick fireplace with comfy settee type seating to the entrance side and then tables along the side, and an impressive wooden staircase which presumably leads up to the B&B accommodation. And then the far end on the other side of the fireplace has a more public bar feel with a flat screen tele for the sport and a pool table.
I believe this is a free house and there were four ales on offer and Doombar and St Austels Tribute were complemented by the Best and 49’er from the local Ringwood Brewery and the Ringwood brews were very well kept. And like the Ship next door the Crown provides a very decent pub food menu.
One interesting point of note is that the long twenty foot plus serving top is one large piece of wood which, thanks to Whatpub, I can tell you originally came from an Elm.
Of the three establishments we tried in Fordingbridge , The Crown would be the one I would bother searching out if I ever find myself passing through again.
