Called in on a Saturday evening towards the end of November, as I've not been for a few years and was literally passing by on my way from the Old Fire Station. Once inside, the bar sported four hand pulls - one unclipped, two with clips turned round, and the final one offering Wainwright. Did an about turn and left. There is much better available in the area.

The Old Pint Pot is reached from the Crescent by crossing a large car park before descending down some stairs to the edge of the Irwell. A long and thin terrace with picnic tables runs along the bank splitting the pub from the river. Music from inside the pub is piped through speakers into this outside area. The long and thin pub has a bar on the rear wall to the left of the entrance and further to the left is a seating area. To the right of the entrance on the rear wall is a small stage area that faces seating and a pinball machine. Further to the right is more seating and the toilets. Opposite the bar is a flight of stairs that lead to an upstairs music venue. This pub is just along the road from Salford University so it’s popular with students.
The bar is stocked with standard and premium draught products and the two hand pumps were drawing Hobgoblin and Wainwright. This is a Marstons pub so their pub co menu is in operation and the televisions were airing their muted pub adverts on a loop. The burger is priced at £10. This pub is open from midday until midnight seven days a week. I found the staff to be friendly, but I didn’t see anything here that would have me rushing back.

Visited this Saturday evening and it was fairly busy; looked like there were mainly students in but a few older groups too. I think there may have been some event going on in the room upstairs, these people were being served in plastic glasses whereas people using the main pub were given a normal glass. Obviously this is a Marston's pub so not expecting anything too outstanding on the real ale front, though on a previous visit they had a nice beer from their Revisionist range so thought it would be worth another look.

There were two "unusual" looking ales - Adelphi Strong and Adelphi Pale Ale. Both are apparently brewed by Marston's for The Old Pint Pot which seemed a bit odd to me. Went for the Adelphi Strong at 5.7% but I found it a bit weird, and definitely not as hoppy as I would have expected. Just to add to my experience I discovered half way through the drink that my glass had a massive crack down it.

Ordering at the bar seemed a bit chaotic, seems to be a case of who shouts loudest gets served, rather than the staff clocking who has been waiting longest. The table was a bit grubby and could have done with a wipe down. Other beers on cask were Hobgoblin and something by Ringwood (possibly Old Thumper).

Glad to have given it another try, but if you're coming from Manchester probably not worth the extra 5 minute walk from the New Oxford.
