Called in on the 3rd of Jan i should learn to keep out of pubs to let on a big pub Enterprise board.
Another poor person gone under nothing in the bottle coolers no hand pull beer not much choice had a pint of Carling to be polite it was good but the poor licenses had lost hope. It has gone down hill from a couple of years ago since i last called in the new Spoons across the road wont help.
But will call back next time in the area.

Tidy little pub on the same road junction as the Shay Wake & the Pineapple. There's one main room with a dividing wall down part of it to split the pub up into what was obviously two rooms originally. It's a decent pub, but with very few outstanding internal features, although the outside is good looking. It was fairly busy on my Friday evening visit, with a mix of high vis jackets and shoppers. There were two beers on the bar Lees Bitter and Brains Firkin Good. I asked for a pint of the Firkin Good and said to the landlord "Is it?". "Is it what?" he replied. "Is it any Firkin Good?" I said. He just shrugged, so not the sharpest knife in the block or just not very communicative, who knows. It tasted Firkin OK rather than being top notch. So I went for a play on the quiz machine where a bloke who appeared to be sharing a brain cell with his carrier bag (I think the carrier bag was using it at the time) proceeded to tell me how good he was at quizzes whilst shouting out the wrong answers. It's a decent enough pub, serving decent enough beer and also obviously providing care in the community.

Had a pint of JW Lees hand pulled bitter. This and some other pumps had hand written prices £2 a pint on bright Post-It notes.
