An ordinary, traditional high street pub, a former coaching inn, with a strong local following. Robust banter, lively buzz and a convivial atmosphere. There was a bingo game in full swing when we arrived, and there was horse racing on the telly. It’s a bit frayed around the edges, and the bucket of fag ends by the door isn’t attractive, but once inside it’s welcoming though it was difficult to find a seat as so many groups had staked their claim. Ales on were Hobgoblin Gold and Doombar, both in fair condition. OK to weigh in for a swift one on a crawl or if you’re a local.

plain locals 'Craft Union' (what is it with the truly awful pub name lettering this company is rolling out everywhere?) pub with most down to earth clientele in town. cheap beer but not the most exciting selection. not bad but there are better pubs on this street.
