I made the most of the good weather yesterday, and cycled to The Haw Bridge Inn. Both the exterior and interior of the pub, have been magnificently renovated to a high standard. Polished flagstone floors, and shiny new fixtures and fittings, give the pub a modern feel, but still maintaining the character of the pub.
The pub was fairly busy when I arrived, as I don't drink much alcohol these days, I opted for a soft drink rather than the Butty Bach. There are three hand pumps, but Butty Bach is the only available ale at the time of writing. I was served by the current owner of the pub, who is a delightful lady.
After I had purchased my drink, I went to sit in the patio at the back of the pub, which is nicely furnished and a pleasant place to relax.
It is heartening to see this pub, doing well after all the difficulties with flooding in recent years, The only items which could be improved upon, are the choice of ales available, and the currently limited opening hours. Other than that, the Haw Bridge Inn is well worth a visit.

I popped down for a look at the floods and got talking to the owners, who were in their garden. An island surprisingly sticking out of the flood waters surrounding it on three sides.
I commented that it still looked like a pub and indeed, they are planning on re-opening it in 2023. No timeframe but watch this space.
Nice to bring some encouraging news.
