Lovely old exterior and an interior that hasn’t been mucked about with. 4 real ales.

Blackthorn _ left this review about Imperial Inn

A traditional looking pub with a green tiled façade and etched glass at the end of Gloucester’s main shopping thoroughfare, the traditional look continues inside where it might also be described as dated. It didn’t appear tatty, but one can imagine that it has remained largely unchanged for many years.

Internally it’s one long, open plan room with red patterned carpet on the floor, dark wood panelling on the lower part of the walls and wallpaper that has been painted in a salmon colour elsewhere. Seating consisted of old padded bench seating and chairs, whilst the walls were liberally covered with all manner of branded mirrors such as Bass, George’s and Badger Beers as well as a number of sports shields and even some small landscape paintings. A couple of TV screens were showing a terrestrial channel and there was a darts board at the rear.

Beers on tap were Salopian Shropshire Gold, Doom Bar, Sharp’s Atlantic and Bass. Ciders were well represented with Blackthorn, Stowford Press and Thatcher’s Gold on tap as well as something from Stan’s in a box on the end of the bar.

Soup Dragon left this review about Imperial Inn

This is a terraced pub that seems to have been called the Plough prior to a rebuild in the late Victorian period. It has a fantastic frontage, being in glazed tiling and having pilasters and etched glass. The upper storey is in plain brick, with stone window surround. The interior is a single narrow room with the serving bar down to the left. The decor is mint green walls and ceiling, with a dark green cornice and with some wood panel. The walls had lots of beer and spirit mirrors, prints and old photos, and there is bench seating. There is a dart board. The TV had boxing on and the music was ok and mixed. The service was friendly and a few locals were in, as well as tourists. Beer; usual tap stuff with two handpulls - although the Bass had gone leaving only Doombar - so i had Newcy Brown, served with the Newcy Brown 1/2 pint glass. Had a real cider. A nice enough pub, with a general beer choice - but happy enough to have stopped for one.
