Komakino . left this review about Adam & Eve

A semi-backstreet local, situated as it is just off a crossroads on the ring road, this has been modernised with bright lights and laminate floor removing whatever character this pub would have had. The small bar is tucked up against the left-hand wall and offered three Arkells ales and Donnington's Cotswold Gold along with Gold Label, Newcastle Brown and Hooch in the fridge, which briefly made me think I had travelled back in time to the mid-90s. Good-natured locals and landlord and my half of Arkells Hoperation IPA, came in at a bargain £1.60. Good, but not great.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Adam & Eve

Basic side-street local, with a 'T'-shaped layout including an unusual open skittle alley. Limited semi-modern furniture. Small rear beer garden. An Arkells house with five handpumps, three of which were dispensing their own beers (including Waimea, £3.10) and two those from the Donnington Brewery. Old fashioned, in a good way, and worth seeking out if in the area.

Steve of N21 left this review about Adam & Eve

The long serving Landlady Dot Gasson, finally called time in January this year after 50 years behind the jump at The Adam & Eve and at over 80 years of age officially made her the country's oldest known full-time landlady.
According to the Local CAMRA branch rag, the pub has been recently brought up to date with the former two bars now forming one large bar but retaining two distinct areas, one with dart board and one as a lounge with TV and music. The skittle alley still extends out from the bar between the two main areas.
Unfortunately the pub was shut when I walked past it , so couldn’t see if this recent redecoration had lost any of the pubs previously reported character, so will have to leave this up to others to comment on that.
And just to add with regards to the skittle Alley being in the middle of the pub, in the 1970s the then owners decided to buy the house next door so that the noise from the skittles didn't disturb anybody, thus doubling the pub size overnight and making it one of the few pubs with a skittle alley right in the middle of the building.
It’s been an Arkell’s house since 1991 and a regular in the CAMRA GBG for the last 8 consecutive years..
