Popped in again just after christmas and found it still functioning as a very good pub under the current landlord. Now six real ale pumps on the bar with the fittings for a seventh when needed for local CAMRA meetings when held. Although three of the pumps had boring stuff from Greedy King ( IPA, Abbott and St Edmund) the other three were local Essex ales with Ridley’s Right and Heresy from the Bishop Nick Brewery and an excellent Jack Spitty from the Colchester Brewery. Still a recommended visit if having to do pick ups from the nearby Stansted airport.

Original Review 11th January 2015:
Utilised this village pub a short distance from Stansted Airport whilst waiting to pick up family members yesterday and it was definitely a million times better decision than using those facilities available in the airport..
The Prince of Wales is a proper community village pub providing good home cooked food and well kept local ales. Internally the split level oaked beamed interior was clearly several separate rooms back in the day, but now one open plan space but with distinct areas. The main brick bar serving area is situated in the middle section and then there are separate areas to the left and right of the bar, both of which have wood burning stoves in sizeable brick fireplaces which were chucking out a fair amount of warmth on this chilly Saturday lunchtime. We utilised the raised section to the left of the bar which had the benefit of a couple of large comfy chesterfields arranged around the fireplace. This section also has a large flat screen tele on the fireplace which was not on for our visit, and then a smaller screen is on the side of the bar section and was in operation for the horseracing yesterday as the lively crowd of locals who were in up the bar seemed to be competing with bets on the races.
A very good traditional home cooked pub food menu is offered from lunchtime to 9.00PM and we went for two mains from the specials board, which were excellent in both quality and quantity and certainly good value at the £9.50 price level.
But the reason I had picked out the Prince of Wales over other nearby available pubs was because it was awarded North West Essex CAMRA Branch Pub of the Year 2014 for its Local Ale policy and in this respect it also did not disappoint. The bar supports six real ale handpumps which yesterday, alongside the usual area stalwarts of GK IPA and Adnams Broadside, were dispensing Essex Minx from the Chelmsford Argem Globe Brewery and Ridley’s Right and Heresy from the nearby Bishop Nick Brewery which grew out of the ashes of the long defunct Essex Ridley’s brewery. The couple we tried were very well kept , especially the Bishop Nick brews.
In conclusion a very good community village pub for both its home cooked food and local real ales, and as it is under a five minute drive from the express set down and pick up lane at Stansted airport, thoroughly recommended when picking up in place of the soulless land side offerings in the airport itself.
