Steve C left this review about Beerarama
This venue changed its name to Beerarama a few years ago, but I don’t really venture into Eastbourne Town much now so early Saturday afternoon a couple of weeks ago was my first visit. The layout is much the same as in 2010, although this is now a bar and bottle shop so tall fridges run along the left-hand wall. The owner’s niche music was playing very softly in the background, and I was the only customer so the buzzing from the fridges was actually quite loud. There is live music advertised for some Sunday afternoons when the atmosphere must be much better. The bar counter along the rear wall only supports six draught fonts which were drawing five craft beers alongside Paulener. I went for pint of Burning Sky’s Verdant at £6.50, which I enjoyed. The owner was polite, but I’m going to be controversial here when I say that for a like-for-like quiet afternoon beer I actually preferred the V Bar.
2nd November 2010
The V bar, or Venus as it is also known, is a café bar with a small patio furniture filled paved area out the front that is railed off from the passing street. Seating is faced bay a bar counter that runs across the rear wall and more seating is found on a mezzanine above. The barman was very friendly and poured a decent pint of Guinness from the standard draught selection. There weren’t many people in, but the chilled back music was very relaxing. There is a plasma screen behind the bar that was showing Sky News. No live football is shown, however Bolton Road is Eastbourne’s weekend party street so there’s a late license, bouncers and loud music on Friday and Saturday nights, when I would certainly be avoiding. However, I thought that it was ok in here for a quiet Monday afternoon pint and change of scene.
