This is a very nice backstreet pub, don't be put off by the on trend black exterior, inside is a very traditional two roomed pub with a older generation locals feel. Initially disappointed at finding one beer on from three handpumps, Timothy Taylor Landlord, but the quality was supreme and a joy to drink. I happily spent half an hour here and would be happy to pop in on a more regular basis if it wasn't for the fact it's quite a way out from the train station.

This pub has been well described by Steve C below. I was here on a quiet night and was glad to find it open. Three real ales on: Franklins English Garden, Timothy Taylor Landlord and Adnams Ghost Ship. I went for the Franklins, as it was a new one to me, and it was in good condition and pleasant enough. In fact the pub is in the "pleasant back street local" category for me - I suppose if you live in Kemptown it's nice to have a pub like this almost on your doorstep, but it's not one I would make a special effort to visit again.

The Sudeley Arms changed its name to the current Saint George’s Inn at the end of 2009. The bar area is found directly in front of the entrance and some seating can be found around to the right. There is a separate room to the left with some more seating and a large paved garden is located out the back. The plasma in the left hand seating area was off, but the one in the bar was showing the end of the Brits on Tuesday evening last week. There were only a handful of customers, but the atmosphere was friendly, as was the barmaid. The bar is stocked with standard and premium draught products and the three hand pumps were drawing Black Sheep, W J King’s Brighton Best and Arundel’s Sussex Gold. Food is served and the mains are priced around the £10 mark which seemed expensive given the descriptions. Maybe the ingredients are locally sourced or the portions are massive.
I thought that this place was pretty good and I would have no problem returning for another beer or two.
