Unspoilt back street local, just a few yards up from the station. A U-shaped room features the bar to one side and a side room to the other. Mid-green walls and a brown ceiling don't sound great but give a nice comfortable feel to the place, helped by a fair amount of woodwork. A yard at the back provide some outdoor space. On handpump were Ubu Purity, West Berkshire Good Old Boys, Pedigree, London Pride and Harvey's Best.

Tris C left this review about Battle of Trafalgar

Unaided by oxygen and fortified with Kendal Mint Cake carried by my trusty Sherpa, I scaled the Guildford Road pass to what by day looks like an unassuming hostelry but which in fact turned out pretty much to be the nicest pub of my 19-hole city crawl. The legend '1805' applied to the façade refers not to the pub's opening time, but the year in which Horatio Nelson defeated the combined Spanish and French navies in the Napoleonic Wars.
It has a simple interior, long and thin with the panelled bar running down part of the right side. Bare boarded, there's conventional furniture with green velour banquettes to much of the periphery. There's grub but it's not as fancy as that dished up by the Sussex Yeoman, directly opposite.
The pub seems to appeal to the city's more prosperous drinkers, though there was a pleasant mix of people in here, served by very hospitable staff.
Ales: as I had done much research during the day I forgot to record them all, but I had a very nice half of Long Man Brewery's Long Blonde at just £1.75, the cheapest half of the day.
This is a great pub and a shame that we didn't visit it as part of our crawl pilgrimage.

Aqualung . left this review about The Battle Of Trafalgar

This is a small pub on the right hand side of the steep hill up the road on your right as you leave Brighton Station. It's bare floorboards and dimly lit as seems to be the trend nowadays. The beers on were Harvey's Best, Brain's Rev James, London Pride and Bath Gem Ales. To me this is a dull selection of beers and I wondered if this is a pubco owned pub where they can only sell beers from the provided list. Given that it was once a Watney's pub it wouldn't surprise me.
I went for the Bath Gem (£3.60) which struck me as being far too sweet, although it was in excellent condition. As far as I was concerned all the beers were boring brown bitters. I liked the pub but the beer selection completely lets it down.
