E TA left this review about The Crown Hotel

The Crown is an old hotel just off the High Street in the old part of town, which first traded in 1697. Currently a freehouse, it has accommodation and a restaurant, and it is supposedly haunted by the ghosts of two children. The ground floor public rooms have been knocked through to form a single large bar, which is carpeted, although the previous layout is still obvious. There is a small courtyard at the back. The atmosphere is welcoming, while the staff and overweight labrador who serves as pub dog are friendly and professional. Many of the clientele look like they are there by accident, having forgotten where the Alzheimers Society is. The décor is dated, but the crown-motif wallpaper adds a little character. Basic home-made food – including fresh home baked bread – is on offer at a reasonable price. In addition there is a good seafood menu. There is a dartboard above the woodburner in the former drawing room area, but it hasn't seen action for a while by the look of it. There is free wifi and there are newspapers available to read. There was only one ale on, Doombar, which was in excellent condition. It's well worth dropping in for a quiet pint or a lunch, and I would include in a crawl for its beer quality.

Quinno _ left this review about Crown Hotel

An upmarket hotel with a large bar. Posh seating, carpeted, daily papers and an indolent pub dog. Décor 25 years out of date but I rather liked it in a retro way, it has at least been looked-after. Sadly the heating was turned off, so another pub where the coat stayed on and the half was dispatched with speed. We were the only punters mid-afternoon. Two ales, Doom Bar and St Austell Proper Job (middling). Coasting.
