Friendly atmosphere. I lived in Oakdale for decades and still go back once a month. It's just a pleasure to visit a genuine local pub (i.e. where local people meet socially and catch up). Happy hour is unbelievably cheap, and great to see the Karaoke is back. If you're a football fan, there's a sports bar at the back with a screen covering almost the whole wall.

The pub is under new management and has improved the menu 100%.The new menu is amazing, everything is homemade including the bases to the pizzas. The burgers are probably the best in Poole! You can taste the difference and the good quality. Definitely worth a visit!!

This large town pub, currently leased from Marstons, sits in a triangular plot on the junction of two main roads into Poole. The ground floor is vast, and there are two main public areas. The back bar is billed as a steak house/restaurant but despite the chairs and dining tables feels more like a sports club with its multiple dartboards, pool table and wall fittings reminiscent of a school gymnasium. The front bar, equally large, also has a pool table, two dartboards and a tv screen. There is a very sad looking parrot imprisoned in a small cage, though there is nothing to indicate what crime it committed to warrant this incarceration. Multiple sports trophies are displayed, showing the pub's prowess in various games. There are many gaming machines dotted throughout the pub. The hifi system is overwhelming, too loud for normal conversation. The staff were quite friendly, while the locals were accepting of our presence. They run regular entertainment including karaoke evenings, happy hours and live acts. Three ales on, all served much too cold. I had a pint of Hobgoblin which was so chilled that there was absolutely no flavour to it. A decent enough local and a good place for a games evening but beer quality isn’t great.
