A large, modernised, open plan pub with numerous areas and much advertising of food, which seems to have displaced any pub games or other activity. Garden area at rear, as well as some tables at the front. Ale wise, offered GK IPA, Abbot and Ruddles at time of visit, and the barman even checked the IPA was ok before serving it, which is commendable if rare (also Cask Marque accredited).

The Cricketers is a large open plan Greene King pub on Rainham High Street. There is lots of seating out the front and at the rear there is some covered seating that leads to a decked beer garden.
The bar runs along the left hand wall where standard draught products are available alongside St Edmunds, GK IPA and Abbot. During my 18:00 Monday evening visit I decided to take advantage of the cheap food and purchased a pint and a burger with chips for £7. I found the pub co food to be perfectly acceptable and good value for the price.
There are plasma screens dotted throughout the pub and muted Sky Sports News was being shown so the football must be shown here.

I found the service to be very good, but this place is a little too bright, big and open plan for my liking. That said, I would still pop back in if passing for another meat burger.

The Cricketers is large town pub in the centre of the old part of Rainham, traditionally associated with the younger element. It has been recently been renovated and modernised and is now sterile and devoid of any old charm it once had. It is open plan and looks like it should be a JDW, but it isn't that good. There was only one ale on - Speckled Hen, which was badly kept and tasted very acidic and over-gassed; it was a chore to drink it. Despite its prime location and potential, the Cricketers remains the same disappointment it has been for many decades. Unless you like cold, tasteless megakeg and the company of bores, it's not worth bothering with as there are better pubs nearby.

High Street pub which has recently started attracting a wider range of clientele thanks to it's food and family orientation. Refurbishment has much improved the ambience of the place too. GK pub but beer appears well-kept and their move with the times to attract a wider audience should be applauded.
