A fine Georgian brick-built house in an impressive garden, currently operated by Vintage Inns. There is a good sized car park with dedicated disabled spaces, and the garden is at the front of the house adjacent to the road, furnished with benches and tables. The interior is a mix of carpet and flagstone flooring in a room which has been rather rudely knocked through to make a single bar/restaurant which fails to make best use of the original architectural features, including a fine exposed brick fireplace – it looks cheap and nasty instead of grand and historic. The staff – a mix of trolls, hipsters and humanoid things, were inefficient not very welcoming. The majority of the clientele were the idle elderly, snooty and unfriendly. Dogs are allowed on the garden but not inside as their intelligence would merely serve to reinforce the inadequacies of the humanoids. The muzak was really annoying. Food was overpriced and unappealing. There were 2 ales on, Ringwood Best and St Austell Tribute, neither well kept. I tried, but I found it really hard to like this pub and am unlikely to rush back given the proximity of other real ale outlets.

The Curlew is good country pub. And popular pub for good food, we are located close to the river Stour. There is always a warm welcome with roaring log fires, freshly prepared food, a selection of real ales and a wine menu for you to choose from.
