A small Victorian roadside pub with a large conservatory annex, making it feel like a barn, and with the original features overshadowed by the modern works, a bit soulless. It is currently operated by Stonegate, another chain which supplies bland pre-formed food listed on laminated menus. There is a decent car park, and the garden is pleasant as it is away from the main road and is a bit wild, giving it a rural feel. The single bar is made noisy by its proximity to the road. There is a random selection of furniture, a mix of flooring styles and an air of ‘corporate’ about it, which contrasts with the gaming machines. They run cocktail themed evenings on Thursdays and Fridays. It sreal strength is its beer – 6 ales on handpump, all at very reasonable prices. I had a pint of Deuchres IPA which was a bit sharp but still quite good. Well worth stopping for a pint or spending an evening enjoying their beer.
