A Palmer’s pub as described below. The seating area at the front was mostly taken up by motorcyclists who were being pestered by aggressive seagulls. There were very few grockles around, which made life for the young staff much easier and more pleasant for the rest of us. The staff were mostly pleasant and helpful apart from one rather cocky individual who thought we would be easier prey than the leather-clad bikers; he was wrong. The pub dog, a sedentary retriever, was more amenable. The pool table in the games room at the back was being well used. Ales on were Copper, IPA, 200 and Dorset Gold. They were all in good condition, and the prices were a lot lower than you’d expect in a seaside location. A good place to have a drink as part of the Dorset seaside experience.

Substantial seaside pub - two rooms - front for drinkers/casual dining - rear for more formal dining. A river side patio along the side.

Palmers house and my first 200 for some time. I love how some beers are so significant to location, as these are never seen outside Dorset/Somerset.

Good Beer Guide 2023, friendly locals/tourists but seemed rather expensive to me - 11.50 for a bottled cider and my pint.

Maybe the norm and I am spoilt in my little bit of Worcestershire.

The George Hotel was our final pub of the day in Dorset. With darkness long having fallen, we couldn't really appreciate the views of the harbour which it faces.

This is another Palmer's pub which caters for both drinkers and diners. At the front are a couple of bar areas, the one to the left also having diners. There is a slightly more formal dining area to the rear.

Palmer's 200, Copper, IPA & Dorset Gold are the real ales. I also noticed their First Press cider in a box at the end of the bar. To be honest, I was surprised I hadn't seen it elsewhere. But it was a good final drink of the night.

With plenty of staff on hand, this was easily the busiest pub in West Bay and probably gets packed during the peak summer season.

Nothing out of the ordinary as a pub, but they trade on their location - seething with tourists in the summer apparently means that the staff don't have to take an interest in customer relations and can ponce about trying to look busy while avoiding serving customers at the bar. They also charge ridiculous prices for what are, after all, only Palmers beers - so nothing really to recommend the place. Below average.

The George is a largish pub that is next to the harbour.
I went in a smartish lounge that was very comfortable and cosy, this is a Palmers tied house and there were three real ales on the bar i had a drink of Palmers best bitter and this was very nice the other beers were Palmers 200 and Dorset Gold.
I was quite happy in this pub and would have liked to stay longer.

Two bar pub with a restaurant /carvery at the back, one bar is pretty much a nautical themed lounge but pleasantly pubby, while the other is a very basic public with a pool table. Beers from Palmers nearby brewery, IPA and 200 in this case but served with the sparkler on a “Northern” setting and suffering badly as a result. A trio of lagers from usual suspects; Stella, Fosters and Kronenburg, Guinness of course and Thatchers cider. Quite busy on a Saturday night but not overwhelming although the staff struggled a little.
