A Charles Wells house in a superb building inside and out that in this current guise isn't playing to its strengths. Two barred with a main bar including a rarity in a Northamptonshire table skittles table and a snug bar with some cracking old photos of Kempston and the pub itself. Upon entry, I became the sole punter on a weeknight after an old boy local left: the young barman more interested in his phone, and a TV tuned into ITV, meaning I was able to catch the arse end of the day's Emmerdale episode (lucky me). Only CW Eagle IPA available, with three other pumps unclipped. £3.60 for the Eagle and not bad. This could be a hidden gem, but there's a massive air of apathy here at the minute - let's not hope it's being run down with developers in mind.

A very pleasant GBG listed two bar town local. There a traditional public bar with darts, skittles and so forth and a more comfortable saloon. Very friendly service, pleasant local and Charles Wells beers in good form.

Well worth a visit if you are in the area. Pubs like this are getting fewer and fewer and worth supporting.

The Half Moon is a decent looking stand alone pub that is at the far end of the high street.
Once inside there were two seperate rooms i had a drink in the bar and this was quite a nice room, there was also a garden to the rear of the pub.
This pub is a Charles Wells tied house and there were two real ales on the bar i had a drink of Wells Eagle bitter and this was a nice well kept pint the other beer was Bombadier.
I thought this was quite a nice proper pub to have a drink in.
