The Wheatsheaf is a small local in a backstreet terrace. A single bar with a woodburner and warm welcome from the staff make it a pleasant place for a snack and a pint, although the artificial wooden fittings are a bit twee. Sold off last year by Hall and Woodhouse, it has been earmarked for residential developement,but due to falling property prices it has been leased back and is still hanging on - although falling sales have caused it to suffer and its future is uncertain. I had a pint of Badger, the only ale on, which was in good condition and most enjoyable. A proper local, it is well worth dropping in when passing.
