The Royston Social Club is situated in a residential street well off to the east of St Albans city centre.
It was the last of the 2025 Good Beer Guide entries for St Albans I still had to visit and the barman was happy to let us in.
There are a couple of rooms. We chose the smaller bar off to the left of the entrance corridor. There is a larger room at the end of the corridor with a pool table.
There are 4 handpulls in each room. Fuller's London Pride is the regular beer. The other 3 pulls are for guests, but on this occasion, only Timothy Taylor Landlord Dark was available. Nevertheless, this was easily the best beer I had all day in Hertfordshire. The cider was Inch's.
A football match was just finishing on the TV and the atmosphere was quite boisterous, but not too intimidating.
Regular events, such as a music quiz and bingo are held.
