A large hotel recently renovated and the bar has been relocated to the other side of the building from when it was the lacklustre Duck and Dog bar in the St George Hotel and it’s greatly enlarged. It comprises two rooms, one on the Crescent Gardens side being by the main entrance, impressive stone steps leading up to an equally impressive bar. The décor is somewhat botanical but looking up there is a magnificent glass dome, the lighting is a little bit tart’s boudoir. Furnishing at high and low tables. Four handpulls on the counter, Theakstons Best Bitter and Old Peculier being reversed, a third blank and the fourth with an interesting beer from Sharps… no really. Usual stuff on T-Bars. Over a door in the corner is a sign reading Stray Away, an Harrogate joke, the door leads to a second bar with an horseshoe bar with four pulls, same beer, and more T-Bars. Similar furnishings but more inclined to dining, I suspect this bar is more of a dining room for the hotel. It is lit by a set of large chandeliers. Although newly refurbished the interior signage seems to date from the previous incarnation and is a bit misleading.

Part of the refurbished Harrogate Inn Hotel (formerly St George Hotel) so an upmarket, swanky hotel bar which has clearly had a large sum of money spent on it. High ceilings and designer decor, with just a bit of industrial trunking to annoy (and presumably aimed at being a modern touch). A canopied forecourt adds a smart outside area. Uniformed flunkies attend the bar and tables, but thankfully they have provided some cask ales, in the shape of Roosters YPA, Theakstons Best and Old Peculier and Doom Bar. Sadly the bitters proved to be off despite the best efforts of the barman, but the OP was in good form, if as pricey as you might expect. OK if you fancy a bit of posh, but not a drinkers' pub.
