Blue Scrumpy left this review about Roa Island Boating Club

One of 14 finalists for CAMRA's Club of the Year 2022 (it didn't make the last 4), this friendly club can be found surrounded by moored boats in the middle of a boatyard on an island reached by a causeway.

The Club also has its own Roa Island Brewery on site. Although their only offerings were a keg bitter and a keg wheat beer.

Nevertheless, a couple of cask ales from the Ulverston Brewing Company were still on - Laughing Gravy & Flying Elephants.

It was reasonably busy, with a good mix of locals having one of the home-cooked lunches and local boat owners.

The bar itself can be found in a large square-shaped room, with plenty of nautical memorabilia lining the walls.

One of the stranger bars I've visited in the UK and in an equally unusual location, I'd recommend a visit here. The beer was in good condition, the staff were friendly and it's clearly a much cherished place for a beer amongst the locals.
