E TA left this review about The Five Alls

I originally reviewed this pub back in 2014 before it was removed from this site at the landlord’s request.  I’m delighted to say that it has improved immeasurably since then, presumably as the result of new ownership.  Its location and demography dictate how it operates to a certain degree, and that was evident on arrival – a large group of large ladies throwing large cheap shots down their large necks and screaming maniacally, a very drunk male forgetting to use his NHS-issued crutches and another drunk male who had to be helped by the staff to get into the taxi he’d forgotten he booked, but the staff were welcoming this time and it was all good-natured. The previous collie dogs have been replaced by an aggressive but not very bright terrier. The bar has been opened out to form a single L-shaped room with a dart board, jukebox (which was extremely loud) and TV screens, while the old pool table had been removed and replaced with additional chairs.  The furniture appeared to have been procured from a number of jumble sales and there is even a bookcase with some real books in it, some of which haven’t even been coloured in.  The biggest improvement is that there is now a real ale on – Hobgoblin – which was in very good condition.  It’s really encouraging to see another traditional local rescued from the developers, though while it was a fun visit, it isn’t on my usual route so it’s unlikely to be repeated.
