Will Larter left this review about Blenkinsopp Castle Country Inn

Blenkinsopp Castle Park is a development of retirement lodges (I made the mistake of referring to them as caravans, which they're clearly not). The pub is in some out-buildings, formerly stables, that are to the side of the castle, which is actually a peel tower or fortified manor house, which was largely destroyed by fire in 1954, and partly rebuilt. The front door faces the park, but access to the pub for any casual users is from the car park around the back - just follow the signs. The bar is accessed via a passage with a couple of steps down. There are three hand pumps, all serving local Allendale beers - the Wolf strong ale was very good. Some work was going on in the garden, and one of the owners came to have a chat with me. Apparently they had decided to retire and put the pub on the market in early 2020, and are still hoping to attract buyers. This is a superb situation, and easily accessible by car with the busy A69 passing close by. I didn't think much of the way the pub has been decorated, but for anyone interested I'm sure that would be easily fixed.
