A new venture, shop conversion running a long way back from a modest sized entrance. It's all quite hip with an industrial grey concrete flooring, some high tables near the bar,a series of seating booths to the rear and the beer selection advertised on a cinema style board.Lots of flatscreen around, thankfully mute on a Friday lunchtime visit.
The keg selection was vast, some nationwide brands,a few continental lagers and some craft beer options.Four handpumps were operating serving a Lilley's cider,Hawkshead Pale,Cumbrian Ales Loweswater Gold and Beartown Creme Bearlee (NBSS 4).
What shocked the crawlers on this visit was the ale pricing,at £3 the half especially the Hawkeshead Pale at 3.5%.Even a local who was waiting for a bus was moaning about London style pricing.
This venture may regret it's image as an expensive place to drink, there is a lot of decent competition not far way.

Situated in the building that used to be the derelict Woods tobacconists Hopwood's Tap House is a long room with plenty of seating mainly consisting of heavy chairs and tables. On the wall to the right is a board displaying all the strengths of the beers on display. The smart tiled bar is next with in the centre 4 handpulls with at either side of these 2 doubled up kegs of Hopwood IPA and Hopwood lager. On the back wall of the bar are another 28 taps making a total of 34 choices.I sampled a half pint of Hopwood IPA which set me back an eye watering £3 00.so a pint of Leffe was out of the question. At the moment the opening hours are from 12 noon till 1am Friday to Sunday
