Although this establishment is open, it doesn’t really qualify as a pub since there is nothing at available on tap, hence it’s closed status. Things didn’t get off to a great start with a bouncer on the door who wanted to search Mrs B’s handbag, but he was at least cheerful and friendly so I’ll let that one pass.

Internally, it’s all one long and narrow open-plan room which has rather an industrial feel to it, despite being wallpapered in many places as well as wood panelling elsewhere. Perhaps the rather drab grey colour scheme didn’t help, plus the fact that in places the wallpaper appeared to have been torn off leaving just rough plasterwork, along with the industrial style light fittings. At the front was some areas of exposed brick walling and there was some sort of chequered lino on the floor. Seating was mostly padded stools either arranged along the bar counter or at small tables.

As mentioned, nothing at all available on tap, but the cocktail selection was ok and the happy hour price of two for £12 wasn’t bad. My Pornstar Martini was a decent enough example, although the accompanying shot of Prosecco was dire. This isn’t somewhere I’d rush back to, even if I wanted a cocktail, there are far more sophisticated options nearby.
