Old Boots left this review about Heaven & Ale

A larger micro, one square room with rear counter with seating at modern light coloured furniture around the room, benches either side of the front door. There’s a smaller room to the left in red with sofas. Four pulls and two T-Bars, cask from smaller breweries but most on the top side of 5%. The kegs are a mix of standard and more interesting. Wines and spirits sold and there’s piped music so not strictly an adherent to the concept. Next to the counter is a shelf of glasses and bottles which I assumed were for sale. Another shelf unit has an eclectic collection of stuff. One wall has a selection of drawings. Quite a friendly place but a walk from the centre.

Will Larter left this review about Heaven & Ale

A large, two-room shop conversion, in a street of small shops, including a convenience store and post office, making this a sort of village or community focal point. The houses around here are quite pleasant, and there's a new development of houses on the site of a former school. The pub has a small space on the pavement, with two or three bench tables (drinking outside has to end by 9pm). The larger room has the bar at the back, with shelves to the left with bric-a-bric in one section and beer bottles in the other. The bar has four hand pumps (see photo), six keg taps and a bag-in-a-box cider. All the woodwork was painted in a tasteful mid-blue, with off white paint on the wall to the right, which has a few framed posters.

Service was friendly and cheerful, and the beer was in very good condition. About half the tables were in use at the time of my pre-match visit, with two men sitting on stools at the bar counter, though it started to pick up a bit as kick-off time approached. The smaller room to the left has a sofa, and behind this room are the toilets, where I saw posters advertising quiz and open mic nights. With all the hard surfaces, I can imagine that the acoustics might be a bit trying once it gets busy here, but that aside this is a very good example of this type of bar.
