Real Ale Ray left this review about The Angus

A soulless one roomed bar with staff to match. However they did have a choice of four cask ales on handpump, Neptune Brewery AGWE, Goffs Skinny Latte Stout, Cotswold Wai-iti and Cromwell Best Bitter. I went for the Neptune which was excellent. This is a cashless bar so when you go to pay you are requested to walk down the right hand side of the bar and use their screen to tap. This method is very confusing initially, as the screen offers a gratuity option of 15,20 or 25% straight away. I picked the 20% option, thinking I was giving a 20p tip as I do in other pubs. I then realised I had just given an 80p tip on a £4 beer, bringing it to £4.80. The staff weren't interested in my dilemma and explained I could have opted out. This mysterious 'opt out' icon was a small dot in the corner of the screen. The manageress got annoyed and said she would return the tip, which was embarrassing.
It is my fault at the end of the day, but I couldn't wait to get out the place and visit a proper pub, so I went to the nearby Vernon Arms.

ROB Camra left this review about The Angus

Roughly half way along the "Dale Street Crawl" is this small, one roomed pub. It's difficult to miss at nights due to the hundreds of small flashing lights in the windows. The inside is all painted blue and has a few standard dining room tables and chairs and a few leaning places. 4 ales and 1 cider on the handpumps during our visit. I had a pint of something from Neptune, memory & notes fail me, and Ms CAMRA had a medium glass of Malbec. It came to very nearly £10, so not the cheapest of places along here. My pint was in good nick and Ms CAMRA enjoyed her wine though. We'll probably call in again next time we're along here. Note that it doesn't open until 4 on weekdays.

Blue Scrumpy left this review about The Angus

Finally back in Liverpool after an absence of 18 months, the Angus Tap & Grind was the first of 3 pubs I hadn't previously visited. It has the feel of a coffee bar during the daytime, but turns into more of a bar in the evenings.

In terms of beers, there are 4 real ales. On our visit, there was Rooster's Highway Fifty-One, Hophurst Carmen, Dent Porter & Saltaire New World. Craft beers were Buxton Jester IPA & Lupulus, Tiny Rebel White Russian, Double Barelled Parka, Vault City x Neoraptor Dinosaur Tea Party, Shifting Baseline Duration & Neptune Saratoga. I couldn't see any sign of a real cider.

With so many other decent pubs and bars on Dale Street and around, I'm sure this will become a regular stopping point for myself and others.

Brainy Pool left this review about The Angus

pleasant little single roomed bar which felt more like a cafe in atmosphere, definitely a worthy addition to Dale Street though with friendly staff and 6 ales on. Will I come back often? Probably not, given the competition in this area, but it's certainly proving popular based on this visit.

Now open. Nice pub with 6 handpulls with 2 for real cider. Single room, which is very blue. The bar is centrally located and the beers were from Hophurst, Fyne, Neptune and Dark Star today. A variety of fizz-u-likes are also available. Bare brick and industrial pipes can be found. Very good. Run by same people who have/had Hard Times And Misery.
