Things are going well here and the business is expanding, the owner Jason has taken on the adjacent two retail units down the pedestrian shopping avenue that runs alongside the existing pub and has knocked a door through providing an extra room of similar dimetions to the original, accessed down a couple of steps and including extra toilets. The third unit is destined to become a micro brewery, still under construction and expected to be functioning this summer, the brewer will be one of the guys from Siren.
On my latest visit on cask were Thornbridge Astryd, New Bristol Starlite and Mighty Oak Doppleganger. The craft options are always of interest and ever changing, this time I had Hammerton Swiss Prisms and Drop Project Shifty, theres always at least one dark beer and one sour on keg along with the various other styles, The cider is a constant in Cowfold Silly Moo, as are the two lagers, Siren Santo and Double Barrelled Ding. All good stuff considering this place had to close down three days after its initial opening due to covid.

July 2020
Newly opened in March 2020 only to be closed down by covid 19 a couple of days later, happily now reopened and what a breath of fresh air for the local beer scene. Single roomed as you would expect of a micropub but room for four or five tables inside plus some outside seating at the the front. There are eight keg options including a Cider plus four pump handles for cask beer, there was only two cask on when I visited but a sensible strategy in early post lockdown opening.I sampled three beers on my short stay, Wilderness Table Pale on cask and on keg Buxton Gate Keeper and Odyssey The Squeeze, all in good shape. Had a nice chat with the main man Jason for the hour I spent there,a really nice place and well deserving of a revisit.

This micropub is situated in what appears to be a pedestrianised area of Alton town centre. It is a single, medium-sized room with a unisex toilet in one corner next to the bar.

The barman was presumably the owner and seemed to be a friendly chap. Despite having 4 handpulls, just the one real ale was available. This was Plain Ales Incognito. They did however have a real cider - Cowfold Silly Moo.

The main focus here appears to be on craft beers, with 7 on - Siren Santo, Double Barrelled Ding, Better World Pallascan, Hophurst Porteresque, Vault City Mango Session, Full Circle Hoop & Deya Magazine Cover.

A worthy addition to Alton's drinking scene, but I'd hoped for a little more selection on the cask front.

There is a public car park just a short walk away, which conveniently for me is free after 6pm.
