Blackthorn _ left this review about Clevedon Brewery Tap Bar

Not a pub in the conventional sense, but the taproom for the Clevedon Brewery, this is consequently located at the back end of an industrial estate and hence not likely to get much in the way of any passing trade. There is though a small outside garden area, or perhaps more accurately a grass verge, which also had the benefit of some gazebo type coverings erected in case of any inclement weather. The friendly barman enquired if we were members or not, although this is certainly not a requirement. Perhaps discounted pricing is available if you are.

Internally they’ve done a pretty good job at softening the bare breeze blocks of an industrial unit, with the walls painted in various shades of grey, taupe and pale blue. Grey tiling was on the floor along with some rather tatty matting. Seats were a combination of old beer barrels with padded cushions fitted and some basic wooden benches. An alcove off to the right was a slightly cosier spot with a plastered purple wall at the back, multi coloured stools and a low table and some black and white artwork on the walls, as well as the odd beer related book on a shelf.

Beers on tap were all their own brews with the line-up on this occasion being Clevedon’s Best, BS21, IPA and Percy’s Porter. As soon as we sat down were brought a generous sample of each, with the barman talking in some depth about the characteristics of them all. Their website also lists a local Ganley & Naish cider as being available, although I didn’t spot a tap for this on the bar. But it seemed churlish to drink anything other than their own offerings, and the porter went down well. Overall I thought this was a better set up than many brewery taps which can be very stark and industrial. Do be aware though that opening times are quite limited, so do check before making a special journey.
