Blue Scrumpy left this review about Blue's Micro Pub

There may only be a couple of pubs in Whitburn, but I enjoyed them both. Whilst the Jolly Sailor is a nice, traditional pub, Blue's Micro Pub is a much more modern venue with an exciting choice of ales, ciders and craft beers.

I arrived not too long after weekday opening, but the pub was still doing a brisk trade. The barmaid was friendly and invited me to take advantage of their Thursday evening pie and a pint offer, to which I politely declined.

2 of the 3 real ales were from a new local brewery called Wear Beer. They were simply titled Pale Ale & Bitter. The third was Turning Point Invoke the Almighty. However, my attention was drawn to the cider selection - Ascension Super Juicy & Jewel Runner, Dudda's Tun Cheery Old Dudda & Oliver's Perry. The Ascension ones were both new ones for me. Meanwhile, the craft beer choice was Anspach & Hobday London Black, Vaux Wanderlust, Vault City Cloudy Lemonade & Yonder Freakshake.

If I lived locally, I'd certainly be a regular here. If I had any criticisms at all, the music was too loud and not really convivial for a relaxing atmosphere and some of the locals seemed a bit stand-offish. However, overall this was my favourite pub of a day crawling south of the River Tyne.
