Ian Mapp left this review about Kobenhavn

Minimalistic cafe style micro with an exceptional beer list.

I'm here to visit the 5 GBG entries in town but could have done worse than stop here. Sierra Nevada Celebration, Deya and Kernal could have been sampled on keg but I went for an excellent Vocation Yorkshire Bitter on Cask.

A modern shop unit in the Westgate Arcade, the interior does have a Scandi feel, open plan on two levels with modern furniture and a bright floor with the bar to the left hand side. The star here is the beer options with six ale choices and 24 kegs lines if my maths is good. The keg selections are described on a wall mounted beer list to the left of the bar.
The barman was certainly very friendly and besides beer is happy to serve decent coffee. On my visit the real ale options were Thornbridge Jaipur,Salopian Shropshire Gold,Atom Golden Ratio,Dorking Surrey XPA,The Coven Cherry Pie High and a very decent BrewYork Calmer Chameleon (NBSS 4.5).Rightly in the 2023 GBG and should always be included in any ale tour of Town.

Modern bar in the Westgate Centre. Two rooms, downstairs is quite nicely done in a Scandi manner - laminate floor and clean lines. Attractive servery with tiled frontage and glass flight upper. Gloomy though, not a huge amount of natural light. The upstairs room is pretty meh, it's one of the oh-so-hipster half-finished jobs. Six cask and a plethora of craftykeg, 36 lines in total if my counting was right. My Anthology Extra-Hopped was a bit pedestrian (NBSS 2.5) though I was then tempted Köstritzer Schwarzbier off the keg which was worth the price. Friendly barman was good for a five minute chat about the footy. My visit was early doors on a Friday afternoon so it's probably a different beast in the evening, but I wouldn’t be swapping this for a pint at Big 6 or Pigeons. It’s run by the same people who have the Victorian Craft Beer Café a few streets away. GBG'22 listed. Rated 7.5

Three level narrow bar built on a slope. The top level has just one table, the middle has two and the bottom one has the bar and a few more along with a few barstools. Bare blue painted walls on my visit which made it look a bit stark with quite a bit of echo. It needs some soft furnishings and wall art. Having said that, the barman was very friendly, all six handpumps were on the go and my pint was in good mick for a reasonable £3.60. I'll be coming here again soon.

Can’t argue with A&H’s description, I found it much the same, my pint of Brew York Jarsa was excellent and was £3.40. My pint of Bad Kitty was even better and only £3.80. I did bump into one of those know-it-alls holding forth on how bad Camra is, I recall meeting one in the Three Pigeons with ROBCamra, Halifax must have an institution for these people.

A brand spanking new craft beer and real ale bar, run by the team behind the nearby Victorian Craft Beer Cafe. Opening on Friday 23rd August, it had only been serving for a couple of hours when we called late in the afternoon. Pleasingly, there was already quite a buzz from a sizeable crowd with a good mix of punters. The interior is all very modern and minimalist, with plain walls, wooden floors and the liberal use of hanging lamps and halogen spots. In truth, it did feel a tad sterile, but I suspect it will soften over the coming months when some ephemera and breweriana is added.

At the bar there were six wickets on the go, plus, twenty four keg taps on the bar back, although not all were dispensing. On trying Burning Sky ‘Aurora’ and Squawk ‘Aix’, both were in good nick, but you’d expect nothing less on launch day. Unfortunately, I can’t comment on pricing as it wasn’t my round and didn’t spot a beer list. Staff were good-natured and attentive, despite a couple of them being clearly frazzled from working into the wee hours, to meet the opening deadline.

Overall, first impressions were very good. I can see it rapidly becoming an essential port of call, in Halifax’s burgeoning beer scene. Will definitely call again, next time I’m in town.
